Striving to build an international academic community 26. May. 2025

“It was back in 2022 that this conference was first held as the result of a special cooperation between the international and the Hungarian Student Self-Government as well as our faculty management. Since then, we have continuously developed, expanded, built and embellished it. This year's event was already open to students from other faculties, and we invited Hungarians as well as international students. Originally, we intended to raise awareness of the opportunities for academic research among our students from abroad but, now, this event is about much more than just that. Another important goal for us is to strengthen networking between Hungarian and foreign students. We want to create an international community where everyone feels comfortable, no matter which country they come from,” said Ferenc Kun, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the 91Ƶ, who briefly described UD’s Faculty of Science and Technology and the opportunities it offers.

The latest results of space research at the 91Ƶ were presented at the conference by László Csernoch, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs. He elaborated on the issue of the effects of long periods of time in space on human organisms and how this can be modeled among terrestrial circumstances.

The organizers prepared a decent variety of presentations on offer, with several OTDK students presenting their research findings, while those who were not able to attend in person could present their research in the poster session. Just like in previous years, there were presentations aimed at helping students to thrive at university, both at the faculty and in their own research efforts. These were given, among others, by Center for Mental Health and Equal Opportunities, Directorate for Academic Affairs and Center for Innovation Ecosystem.

There are about 800 of the total of 2,800 students at the Faculty of Science and Technology enrolled in English programs. The organizers hope that this fourth conference will enable even more international students to become involved in internationally recognized research available at the faculty and to participate in OTDK conferences.
